Mrs. Wanda Lee Jackson Hardy, age 95 of State Road, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Hardy was born April 26, 1927 in State Road, NC to Joseph Leander Jackson and Nevada Howard Jackson. She was the oldest of eight children. Mrs. Hardy married Leo Wesley Hardy on November 24, 1951 and together they founded Hardy Insurance in 1953 in North Elkin. She was an active member of Grassy Creek United Methodist Church and previously Ebenezer United Methodist Church, which was founded by the Jackson family. Mrs. Hardy was a hard working, very caring and loving mother, wife, and was cherished by family, neighbors, and friends.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Hardy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Leo W. Hardy; sisters, Wilda Mae Jackson Long of State Road, Betty Jean Jackson Mendenhall Davis of Lewisville, Ruthie Jackson Davis of Elkin; brother, Billy Joe Jackson of Elkin; grandchildren, William Hardy Marsh and Christina Marsh of Charleston, SC.
She is survived by her four children: Elton Hardy and wife Gail of Matthews, Rodney Hardy and wife Tracy of State Road, Reginald Hardy and wife Manuela of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Pamela Hardy Marsh and husband Bill of Isle of Palms, SC; sister, Sandra Jackson Wilhelm of State Road; brothers, Henry Jackson of Lewisville and Bernard Jackson of State Road; grandchildren, Courtney Marsh, Jackson Hardy, Mrs. Abigail Bennett, Luke Hardy, Zach Hardy, Tanner Hardy, Travis Williams, Ms. Jacey Taylor, Adam Hardy, Nathan Hardy, Priscila Hardy, Hanna Hardy and great grandchildren; Henry Bennett, Oliver Hardy, Baron Williams, Reagon Williams, Owen Hardy, and Simon Hardy.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Grassy Creek United Methodist Church with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Prichard and Rev. Stacie Eller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Grassy Creek Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 291 Klondike Road, State Road, NC 28676 and/or Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 957 Ebenezer Church Road, Elkin, NC 28621.
