Wilda Owens Lawrence

Wilda Owens Lawrence, age 96 of Elkin passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Westwood Hills Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Wilkesboro.

Mrs. Lawrence was born November 6, 1927, to Murphy S. and Alice Billings Owens.  She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Wilda was a retired hairdresser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lawrence; brothers, Murphy Owens and Brock Owens; sisters, Blair Morrison, Opal Bates, and Artie Martin.

Survivors include her daughter, Debo Lawrence Cornett, and husband, Larry of Wilkesboro; sister, Evelyn O. Norman of North Wilkesboro; sister-in-law, Vera Owens of Winston Salem; niece, Barbara Cooper of Elkin; grandchildren, Bryan Cornett of Millers Creek, Derek Cornett & wife, Tonia of Mocksville; great-grandchildren, Kori Cornett of Millers Creek and Carter Cornett of Mocksville.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
