William "Bill" Grady Martin, Jr.

Mr. William “Bill” Grady Martin, Jr., age, 76, of State Road passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. Mr. Martin was born February 14, 1947 in Guilford County to William Grady Martin, Sr. and Ellen Amelia Aiken Martin. Mr. Martin was a member of Rehobeth Methodist Church in Greensboro. He was a patriot through and through, and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and he was retired from Frito Lay. Mr. Martin loved the Yankees, he was a good friend, neighbor and an avid outdoors man and loved farming. Survivors include his wife, Diane Martin of the home; sons, Jason Ross Martin and wife Crystal of Elkin, Brian Samuel Martin and wife Angela of Oak Ridge, NC, William Todd Martin and fiancée Dannie Lynn Smith of State Road; daughter, Heather Lynn Martin and fiancé Chris Johnson of Sandy Ridge, NC; brothers, Larry Martin and wife Peggy of Greensboro, Fred Miller and wife Margaret of Phenix City, AL.; sisters, Mary Jane Carter and husband Mark of Asheboro, Janice Robinette and husband David of Pleasant Garden, NC, Sandy Newman of Greensboro; grandchildren, Jordan James and husband Kevin, Lindsay Norman, Justin Faw, Ethan Martin, Gabrielle Martin, Emma Grace Martin, Ella Kate Martin, Lydia Shellum; great-grandchildren, Colton Grady Martin, Riker James, Rosslyn James, Peyton Norman and Charlotte Norman. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Kenny Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Old White Rock Cemetery, Haystack Road, Thurmond, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
