William "Bill" Baxter Rhyne

Mr. William “Bill” Baxter Rhyne, age 94, of Pinnacle, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born on November 25, 1930, in Yadkin County to Glenn and Sarah Mae Martin Rhyne.

Mr. Rhyne enjoyed serving his community as a volunteer member of Elkin Rescue Squad for many years and was honored with a Lifetime Membership. He also enjoyed gardening and maintaining a beautiful yard. On Friday nights, he could be found playing card games with family and friends.

Mr. Rhyne retired from the United States Postal Service and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He was a former member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, serving as Trustee and Usher for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 50 years, Doris Pardue Rhyne, his daughter Linda Karen Rhyne, his brother Charles Rhyne, and his sisters Evelyn Groce and Frances Collins.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia Snow Rhyne; son, Warren Glenn Rhyne; brother, Jimmy (Mary) Rhyne; sisters, Nancy Williams, Ruby Alexander, Trixie Darnell, Gayle Wells, Kathy (Gary) Wagoner, and Elaine (Gary) Groce; stepsons, Shaun Hunter and wife Lori and Derrick Hunter and wife Lynn; step-grandchildren, Lathan (Katie) Hunter, Ryan (Maranda) Hunter, and Molly (Ben) Holt; great-grandchildren, Silas Hunter and Gracie Holt; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Joe Wood and Matthew Day officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church.
