William "Bill" David Smith

Mr. William David “Bill” Smith, Sr., age 92, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Bill was born in Forsyth County on August 29, 1931 to Albert and Lou Etta Boles Smith. Bill retired from the US Postal service and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a long time member of Elkin Presbyterian Church, he served as an Elder, Deacon, and a member of the choir. In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Wells Smith, his son, William David Smith, Jr.; brothers, John L. Smith, Albert C. Smith; sisters, Helen Bean, Nancy Timmons, Mary Becker. Survivors include son Alan Smith and wife, Mary Katherine, daughter Lori Trexler and husband Matt, daughter-in-law, Teri Owens Smith, sisters-in-law, Nancy Smith, Honrii Wells, Diane Smith; grandchildren, Parker Trexler, Will Trexler, Jordan Smith; step-grandchildren, Logan Speaker, Spencer Rivers; step great grandchildren, Tripp Speaker, Grady Speaker. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens with Pastor Arlo Tysinger officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force honor guard In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Elkin Presbyterian Church, 115 Hillcrest Drive, Elkin, NC 28621.
