William Marion Golden, age 78, of State Road, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest in Winston-Salem. He was born October 18, 1946, in Pell City, Alabama, to Orville and Grace Kershaw Golden.
William was ordained as a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene and was Quartermaster of the Mark Garner VFW. He retired from the U. S. Air Force after 22 years and served in the Vietnam conflict.
He loved his wife, family, especially his four beautiful granddaughters, and friends; he loved Jesus, his Lord and Savior, above all else. He was skilled in many ways. If it was broken, he would find a way to fix it.
He attended Elkin Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his daughter, Meg Golden.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Gibbs Golden; son, Craig Golden, and wife, Mary Gayle; brothers Douglas Golden, Dean Golden, and Van Golden; sisters Martha Watts and Mary Rickman; grandchildren Emma Golden, Ava Golden, Olivia Golden, and Claire Golden; and niece Greita Gibbs.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Johnny Blevins and Rev. Stephen Robbins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In place of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Samaritan Purse for Western North Carolina victims.
Special thanks to the strangers who helped along the way.
