William Edward Green

William Edward Green, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, March 5, 2025, at his home in the Clingman Community.

Edward was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather and was loved by his family very much. He was self-employed as a farmer, merchant for approximately 30 years and owner of William E. Green Family Tours for approximately 27 years. He enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them from his window at his desk. He enjoyed life, had a great marriage and will be missed by all.

He served in the United States Army in the Korean War.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ronda, was a Deacon, taught Sunday School for many years, led the Men’s Choir, served on many committees including the Cemetery Committee to help start a fund to care for the cemetery and was instrumental in the building of the Veteran’s Memorial at the church.

Edward was born on November 15, 1932 to Harvey & Nettie Green. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Green, his parents, sisters, Lucille Lowe & Alene Redding, and brother, Thomas Green. He is survived by three sons, Dale Green, and wife, Cathy of Ronda; Scott Green, and wife, Lisa of Ronda; and Andy Green, and wife, Sarcanda of Jonesville; four grandchildren, Hannah Blackburn and husband, Adam of Ronda; Zane Green and wife Paris of Boonville; Kendra Bell and husband, Nathan of Ronda and Will Green of California, and three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Hampton, and Hazel Blackburn of Ronda.

The family would like to give a special thanks to close friends Shelvia Everidge, Don & Loutricia Redding, Larry & Peggy Brown, Jennie Brown and Pam Walker.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to the Hickory VA Medical Center in Hickory and the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville for the many years of excellent care he received. They would also like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice and their nurse Megan Cheek and Home Instead and their care giver Janette Bryant for their loving care.

Edward will lie in state on Saturday March 8th from 1:00 – 2:00 PM with funeral to follow at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3982 Clingman Road, Ronda, NC, 28670. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Don Redding and Reverend James Safrit will officiate. Pallbearers will be Zane Green, Roy Anderson, Adam Blackburn, Nathan Bell, Cole Prevette & Jackie Call. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Myers, Larry Brown, Logan Call, Scottie Greene, Marty Bell, Ken Glass, Buford Williams, Mark Anderson, Scotty Joyner, Roger Gregory, Gary Byrd, Allan Byrd & Rudy Holbrook.
