William Ray Johnson

William Ray “Chief” Johnson, age 83, of Ronda, passed away at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital on Monday, June 3, 2024.

Ray was born in Alleghany County on January 24, 1941, to John Reason and Alice Musgrove Johnson.

Mr. Johnson retired from his position as an inspector at Abitibi in Roaring River.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Ellen Joann Cheek Johnson, infant son, Joey Kevin Johnson, son, Danny Johnson, and sister, Barbara St. John.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue of the home, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 11:00 am at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Josh Blevins and Layperson Ronnie Vanhoy officiating.  Following the service, interment will take place at Swan Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesville.  The family will receive friends at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle from 10:00 am-11:00 am prior to the service.
