Barry Leo Bryant

Mr. Barry Leo Bryant, age 75, of Elkin passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Barry was born May 14, 1948 in Iredell County to Gad Bryant and Lucy York Bryant.  He was a member of Jonesville Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as the men’s fellowship director.  Barry graduated from Jonesville High School class of 1966 and Forsyth Technical Community College. He had many enjoyable trips on his motorcycle which he loved to ride.  He also enjoyed silver coin collecting and Starmount football. Barry retired from Carolina Freight and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968 – 1970.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sonya Bryant Draughon and a special “cuzbro”, Steve Bryant.

Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Sandra J. Bryant of the home; his brother, Jim Bryant and wife Marti of Winston Salem; grandchildren, Alexsandria Draughon, Riley Draughon; special nieces, Stephanie Bulin of Jonesville, Michelle Bryant of Winston Salem; special cousin, Dawn Poston and husband John of Jonesville.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at New Beginnings United Methodist Church with Rev. Darryl Vestal officiating.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC  27017.
