Mr. William “Bill” Kent Hooper, age 82, of Ronda passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Mr. Hooper was born January 9, 1940 in Surry County to Rev. Cecil M. Hooper and Lucille Murphy Hooper.
Bill was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. He retired from Centel and was a founder of the Stone Mountain Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Bill also sang in the Yadkin Valley Boys Quartet for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emma Faith Hooper.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Patsy Darnell Hooper of the home; sons, Ken Hooper and wife Robin of Elkin, Joel Hooper and wife Leslie of Elkin, Len Hooper; grandchildren, Ellie Hooper Berry and her husband Tucker of Austin, TX and Mary-Claire Cason and her husband Christopher Cason, Jr. of Elkin.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Whitley and Rev. Rex Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
