Havalyn Hayes Jolley

Mrs. Havalyn Hayes Jolley, age 98, of State Road passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mrs. Jolley was born August 12, 1924 in Surry County to James A. “Red” Hayes and Minnie Durham Hayes.

Mrs. Jolley was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.  She loved her family and friends and especially loved to have dinner parties and cookouts to entertain them. Mrs. Jolley retired from Chatham Manufacturing Co. after 43 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Robert R. Jolley; brothers, Hope Hayes, J.A. Hayes, Jr. and Ben Hayes and sister, Willow Miller.

Survivors include: her daughter, Toni Weatherman and husband Harold of State Road; sister, Patricia Crabb of Lexington, NC; grandchildren, Hal Weatherman and wife Michelle of Wake Forest, NC; Gina Nolan and husband Joe of Pensacola, FL; great-grandchildren, Hayes, Skyler and Kit Weatherman all of Wake Forest, NC.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, April 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Chad Whitley officiating.  Interment will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family ask memorials be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, P. O. Box 38, State Road, NC  28676.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and aids at Yadkin Nursing Center for their thoughtful care.  Also, a special thank you to a special friend Melba Nance, for her visits, phone calls and cards.
