Helen Hayes Swain

Mrs. Helen Hayes Swain, age 101, of Elkin passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Swain was born January 24, 1921 in Surry County to Webster Hayes and Edith Mae Masten Hayes.

Mrs. Swain was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church and retired from Blackwelder. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was very proud of her family and lived a long, full life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clero Claude Swain; son, Ronald C. Swain; son-in-law, Garvey Dameron; sisters, Opal Cockerham, Betty Parrish, and Mae Choate; and brother, Lee Roy Hayes

Survivors include: her son, Ricky Swain and his wife Sandra of Elkin; daughter, Claudia S. Dameron of Pfafftown; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Swaim of Mocksville; sister, Edith Hemric and her husband Jim of Ronda; grandchildren, Russ Dameron and his wife Sandy of Pfafftown, Scott Dameron of Pfafftown, Cory Swain and his wife Heather of Elkin, Shana Reinhardt and her husband Eric of Elkin, Chad Swaim and his wife Vicky of Mocksville, Ronda Smith and her husband Mike of Lewisville; great-grandchildren, Tori Swanson and her husband Matt, Dylan Dameron, Tyler Dameron, Sophie Reinhardt, Mia Reinhardt, Arys Reinhardt, Jordan Fightmaster, Morgan Lail, Tori Olive and her husband Robert; and Sydney Nelson.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Scott Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Swan Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2501 Swan Creek Rd., Jonesville, NC 28642.
