James Maurice Weavil

Mr. James Maurice "Jim" Weavil, age 90, of Boonville passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at his home. Mr. Weavil was born August 29, 1931 in Forsyth County to Raymond and Geneva Weavil.

Mr. Weavil was of the Moravian Faith. He was a United States Navy Veteran and retired with 20 years of service, having served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. Mr. Weavil continued his career after the Navy and retired from the Federal Civil Service and the North Carolina School of The Arts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Wilson Weavil; five sisters, Lena Mabe, Grace Myers, Elva Atkins, Dora Slate, Darlene Hendrix; two brothers, Deward Weavil and Ralph Weavil.

Survivors include: his wife, Yu Wen Weavil of the home; son, Mike Weavil and his wife Frances of Boonville; grandson, Hunter Weavil; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Bill Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
