Sister Patricia Ann Kennedy went home to be with her Lord on Friday afternoon, January 27, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem. She was a hard worker, working forty years at Vaughn-Bassett and several years at Kentucky Fried Chicken until retiring. She was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Dobson, NC.
Sister Pat loved her family, her grandchildren, and her church family. She was well spoken of and an avid worker in the church, doing whatever it took. She faithfully attended Sunday school, Sunday service, and Wednesday night service until her health declined. Sister Pat’s favorite saying was, “I’ll help anybody who needs help; just let me know.”
Sister Pat was born to the late George Nathan Boles and Mary Magalene Boles on May 25, 1947, in Yadkin County. Later, she married the late Francis Marion Kennedy III, and to this union was three children, Francis Marion Kennedy IV of Elkin, daughters Jackie Kennedy of Elkin, and Crystal (Khafiz) Gondry of California. Sister Pat was blessed with six grandchildren: Anastasia, Jasmine, Amber, Patrick (Casey), Andrew, and Sarah. In addition to her grandchildren, she has eight great-grandchildren.
Sister Pat is preceded in death by her brother Bobby Lee Boles and is survived by her sister Betty Jean Kimber and sister-in-law: Rachel Rochester. She is also survived by Katie Lee Dobson of Dobson, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Edward Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Elkin. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
