Priscilla Howell

Mrs. Priscilla Rhodes Howell, age 83, of Elkin passed away Monday, September 12, 2022 at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Howell was born September 3, 1939 in Wilkes County to Quincy M. Rhodes and Elma Hinson Rhodes.

Mrs. Howell retired from Hugh Chatham Nursing Center and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she served as a nursery worker and daycare volunteer. She was an avid reader and loved doing puzzles. Mrs. Howell enjoyed cooking meals and visiting shut-ins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jimmy Howell.

Survivors include: her daughters, Susan Lyon and her husband Steven of Thurmond, Peggy Grose and her husband Carl of Statesville; brother, Jimmy Rhodes and his wife Kaye of Elkin; sisters-in-law, Mary Belle Caudle, Linda Park, Brenda Howell; grandchildren, Jason Grose, Travis Grose and his wife Melanie, Chris Lyon and his wife Toni, and Zack Lyon; great-grandchildren, Ryker Lyon, Christopher Meade, Brianna Meade, and Raven Prevette; and many special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Danny Dodds and Rev. Joe Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1427 Edgewood Dr., Suite 101, Mt. Airy, NC, 27030 or Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 593 Pleasant Hill Dr., Elkin, NC 28621.
