Robert Martin

Mr. George Robert Martin, age 75, of State Road passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Martin was born April 9, 1947 in Smith County, VA to Oscar Martin and Laruie Taylor Martin.

Mr. Martin was a United State Marines Corps veteran, serving during the Vietnam War, and retired from Walmart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley A. Martin; brothers, Gene Martin and Franklin Martin.

Survivors include: his sons, Bobby Martin of N. Wilkesboro, Kevin Martin and his wife Kelly of Dobson and Bo Martin and his wife Leigh Ann of Jonesville; grandchildren, Chris Martin, Mason Martin, Brady Martin, Kathlena Martin, Kasey Martin and Kaden Martin and several great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Ralph Casstevens officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens.
