Mrs. Tammy Simmons Handy, age 59, of Roaring River passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Handy was born January 5, 1962 in Wilkes County to Boyd Franklin and Frankie Hawkins Simmons.
Mrs. Handy was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church. She loved gardening, camping, painting, and deer hunting. Mrs. Handy loved her family and raising her grandbabies. She had an infectious sense of humor and was always the life of the room
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Ring.
Survivors include: her husband, Lonnie Carl Handy of the home; sons, Timothy Handy and wife Tara of Roaring River, Matt Handy and wife Angel of Roaring River; daughter, Amy Williams and husband James of North Wilkesboro; adopted son, Anthony Burchette and wife Christina of Greensboro; father, Boyd Franklin Simmons of Traphill; sister, Tina Hanley and husband Ken of Anchorage, AK; thirteen grandchildren, Trey, Taylor, Trystan, Malachi, Madalyne, Emma, Maycee, Payton, Layla, Makina, Hayden, Keegan, and Owen.
A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Middle Cross Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Whitley and Pastor Joe Sturgill officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Middle Cross Baptist Church, 2305 Rock Creek Rd., North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
